Heritage Turkeys: Well worth the cost

Shoppers sometimes get sticker shock when they first look into buying a heritage turkey for their Thanksgiving or Christmas tables. In our experience, once they understand the TRUE costs behind commodity turkeys and naturally raised heritage birds, they are willing to make the splurge. In today’s Atlantic, in a piece called Heritage Turkeys: Worth the Cost?, I outline the differences and why, despite their relatively high price tag, we believe naturally raised heritage turkeys are a good value.

    Heritage turkeys are no doubt worth the cost.

    Around here, we try to go the next step each year. That is, beyond a Heritage turkey or Heritage goose, we try to harvest a few wild ones. Very good indeed.
